Qazaqstan Investment Corporation joined the UN Global Compact

Qazaqstan Investment Corporation JSC (QIC), being the main driver of development of direct investment market in Kazakhstan, continues to improve the corporate practice of sustainable development management. On April 3, 2023, QIC joined the United Nations Global Compact. Joining the UN Global Compact will contribute to further implementation of principles of corporate social responsibility, implementation of joint educational, acceleration programs and promotion of ten universal principles and values of UN among the stakeholders of the corporation. The main share of QIC project portfolio is accounted for by small and medium-sized businesses. Thus, the proactive actions of corporation in matters of corporate social responsibility will be aimed at popularizing knowledge and implementing practices in the field of sustainable development in SME project companies. In addition, as part of transition to the "responsible investment" model, QIC joined the UN Principles of Responsible Investments Association in October 2022. The members of the Association are international private equity funds and investment companies with activities aimed at developing the concept of "responsible investment" by introducing ESG standards into investment activities. Since 2022, in order to increase corporate transparency in the field of non-financial reporting disclosure, QIC has been implementing information disclosure practices in accordance with the Guidelines for Sustainable Development Reporting of the Global Reporting Initiative GRI. The UN Global Compact is the world's largest initiative in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, bringing together more than 20,000 participating companies from more than 160 countries. Joining this initiative confirms the commitment of the participating companies to consistent implementation of ten universal principles of the UN Global Compact in their activities in the field of human rights, labor relations, environmental protection and the fight against corruption in any of its manifestations, and also expresses its intention to harmonize the strategies and activities of the participants in order to promote the ten universal principles and values of UN and take measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
