Social Responsibility

In 2010 Kazyna Capital Management (“KCM”) sponsored the School Basketball League, a School Basketball Tournament held for school teams pursuant to the State Physical Education and Sport Program for 2007-2011 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The opening ceremony of the Almaty City School Basketball Tournament called the School Basketball League was held on 18 December 2010 in Almaty in partnership with the National Basketball Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  At the opening ceremony all participants received basketball clothing and balls.


 

During the 2010-2011 season school teams comprising students from 5-6 and 7-8 grades (boys and girls) will be competing against each other.  About 173 games are scheduled to be held for the period from December 2010 until May 2011.  20 teams representing 12 schools will participate in the tournament.  The total number of participants is 240 students. 
Qualifying tournaments will be held every Friday and Saturday. 
To maintain transparency of the project work and popularize basketball among Kazakhstani students a special site was created at the following address www.sbasketball.kz.  Another sponsor has also been attracted for this project i.e. ASEM AI, a Kazakhstani producer of bottled water and drinks, which will provide drinking water to all tournament participants throughout the school basketball season.
